The new single is finally here! "One Headlight" is a deeply personal track from the upcoming album Rattlesnake Boy (out 23rd May). It’s a song about finding that spark of self-belief when things get tough. During a meeting with longtime songwriting partner Shannan Fowler (Tom Lark), Mainard opened up about a severe, year-long mental health battle:
“I started crying, but Shannan was so caring and kind. We went back to the studio and I wrote those lyrics: ‘I'm not a loser, I'm giving my best / I've given it all, given the rest.’ That was exactly how I felt - I was working so hard through therapy and just trying to survive the gnarliest stretch of my life.”
To go along with the track, there’s a stunning new music video directed by Alexei Foster with a gritty, Raging Bull cinematic feel. The album as whole has a loose theme about a pro-wrestler, but the video takes the combat-sport theme in a new direction, by trading the wrestling gym for the boxing ring!
