Princess Chelsea - Live at Studio Two (Abbey Road)

In November 2022, cult New Zealand producer Princess Chelsea and her band The Dream Warriors recorded a ten-song live session at Abbey Road Studio Two - (yes that room!) the legendary studio made famous by The Beatles. Directed by London-based Kiwi director Marc Swadel and Jonathan Bree, the performance unfolds in a surreal setting created by artists Pat Grimm and Reuben Sutherland who filled the studio with more than 300 colourful balloons.

The special draws heavily from her latest album Everything Is Going To Be Alright, which won the Taite Music Prize for Outstanding Artistic Achievement and was later named #2 Best New Zealand Album of the 2020s by Rolling Stone.

Three years in the making, the one-hour visual special captures the band performing completely live while making full use of Abbey Road’s collection of vintage instruments, including Wurlitzers, Rhodes, celeste and Hammond organ.

Beatles devotees will spot the Mrs Mills and Challen pianos, with drummer David Harris set up in Ringo’s Corner. Guest musicians Tara Viscardi (harp) and Nathan Giorgetti (cello) join The Dream Warriors - Jasmine Balmer, Joshua Worthington-Church, Simeon Kavanagh-Vincent, David Harris and Joe Kaptein.

To accompany the release, Lil’ Chief Records has pressed an exclusive yellow vinyl edition featuring selected songs from special, available exclusively via Rough Trade London, New Zealand record stores and the Lil’ Chief webstore.
